We’ve had some really stunning sunsets lately

Cement ship SS Palo Alto in Aptos, CA
The SS Palo Alto, aka “the cement ship” was permanently docked in 1930 at the end of a pier in Aptos, CA (where I grew up), and served as a resort gambling and dance destination for a year before storm damage made it usable for nothing more than a fishing spot.

I had a few hours to kill in San Francisco so I headed to the Bay and ended up at Fort Point, where I couldn’t resist taking a few snaps with my camera phone. Wish I had had a real camera, but it’s hard to ruin a picture of the Golden Gate Bridge at sunset 🙂
A Life of Sailing
I’ve sailed all my life. My parents owned a sailboat since before I was born. When I was a kid we would take cruises to Monterey or Moss Landing (really the only one-day destinations from Santa Cruz) for a weekend, and occasional day-sails. I’ve always dreamed of sailing off into the sunset, but I don’t think I have the guts to do it…
