Poem: A Broken Heart

“A Broken Heart”
by Bill Ward
1999

A man with a broken heart walks by.
 His wife has left him,
Run off with an insurance salesman.
   On the plane to Tahiti,
They drink a toast of champagne
     While his house is repossessed
      And his children taken away
And his boss writes up a notice of termination.
Or maybe he just stubbed his toe?
